"At Eschbourg and Graufthal, district of Saverne,
the fifth day of Vendemaire month, year nine of the French
Republic [27 Sep 1800], at eight o'clock of Jacob Laubacher, five and twenty
years, four months and seven and twenty days old, born in Graufthal
the second of April seventeen hundred and five and seventy, legitimate
unmarried son of Jacob Laubacher, resident and occupied as a day laborer
in Graufthal, Saverne district, Lower Rhine Department, and
his wife Salomea Kor, who is dead. And of Ursula
Schmitter, whose birth record cannot be found, born in
Rosteig, where she is a resident, it is sworn by some citizens and the
mayor of Rosteig that she is eight and twenty years old,
unmarried legitimate daughter of Frantz Schmitter, resident
of Rosteig, Lower Rhine Department, and his wife Ursula
Lernhard, who has died. Both the testimony to her birth is registered
in the marriage book, as well as his birth certificate, and to my
knowledge all is correct and official with the forms, and there
is no reason to disallow the marriage. Present was Jacob Laubacher,
and Ursula Schmitter, along with Ludwig Laubacher, two
and thirty years old, resident and occupied as a farmer in Eschbourg,
the older brother of the groom; and Georg Laubacher, one and thirty
years old, resident and occupied as a farmer in Eschbourg, an older
brother, and Frantz Zorn, six and forty years old, resident and
occupied as a schoolmaster in Eschbourg, and Frantz Host, nine and
twenty years old, resident and occupied as shoemaker in Graufthal,
with the parties to the marriage, all of Lower Rhine
Department.

Today the last day of September in the year One Thousand Seven
Hundred ninety one, before me, the undersigned administrator,
appeared Margaretha Schneider, a local midwife who swore
that [the baby] was in extreme danger of death within an arm's length of the womb
and that she performed a lay absolution and baptism on Johann Michael,
son of Jacob Laubacher and Anna Maria Frick
who are married and live in Graufthal.
The godfather is Peter Vahlherr, son of the late bachelor
Henri Vahlherr and by adoption Margaretha Zinsin.
The godmother was Maria Eva Schmitt, daughter of the late
Sebastian Schmitt and Catherina Fröschin who were
married in Ermingen in the Molshemin(?) church.
And in Benelburg ??? the magistrate made this official (?)
because for the time being there is no admistrator living in
Graufthal who knows these people well enough to swear this is all
true; except the father signed (made his mark) before me below."

[the next passage contains many words that do not translate;
it seems to relate to a person called D. Blasius taking a confession on the 8th of the same month as the marriage;
later the bride's parents are said to be Lutheran so this is likely a notation that she converted to Catholicism prior to the marriage]
[resuming at line 6]and no violations of canon law in the facts, and without finding
impediments other than as noted, I, the undersigned Most Reverend priest of the parish
received last Sunday the changed confession [conversion?],
in the church performed the sacrament of Marriage between Ludwig
Laubacher son of Jacob Laubacher resident, and the late
Salome Kohr who were married in Graufthal, where they lived; and
Anna Eva Wolff, [illegible] confessed, daughter of Daniel Wolff
