Her death record gives her age as "soixante ans," or sixty years, giving an approximate birth date of 1755. The record of her baptism is very clear as to the date and year of 1773.

He was most certainly the son of Claude Lab and Claire Françoise Duhaut of Anteuil. This couple had sons Gerard (1731), Nicolas (1736), and Nicolas Gerard (1740), all baptized in Anteuil. No death or marriage records have yet been obtained for two of the three. While it is not possible to be absolutely sure who is who, only one appears to have married or survived to adulthood, and his age appears to align most closely with the oldest of the three, baptized only as Gerard but known later in life as Nicolas Gerard.

Nicolas married Anne Claude Vernier bef. 3 May 1753. Anne was born abt. 1732; died 19 Apr 1794, Anteuil, Doubs, France. [Group Sheet]

The Doubs Généalogie association has partially transcribed a record indicating that an Anne Claude Vernier was baptized in Dampierre-sur-la-Doubs on 22 Jul 1734, daughter of François Vernier of Étouvans and Catherine Jacquot.
