    Notes:

There is a high likelihood that he was the son of Ulrich Laubacher and Ursula Gebert/Gebhardt. Many researchers give this relationship, but we have never seen a source cited nor have we found one independently. Ulrich and Ursula appear to be the only Laubacher couple who were recently of child-bearing age in Veckersviller in the early 1700s. Ulrich d. 28 Aug 1717 in Veckersviller (registry); Ursula d. 8 May 1728 aged over 60 (number hidden in the gutter of the book; Veckersviller registry).

If Sebastian is a son of this couple, he appears to be one of their younger children. Others include:

Bartholemy, b. abt. 1678 (death record), m. Catherine Lehmann in Veckersviller 1 Aug 1711, d. 21 Dec 1747 and bur. 23 Dec 1747 in Veckersviller (Veckersviller registry)
Jean Michel, bap. 26 Jun 1685 in Saverne (Saverne registry) to parents living in Idersthal/Ottersthal, though Ursula is given as "von Dannberg"; m. 1st Marie Madeleine Lehmann in Veckersviller 18 Nov 1710 (Schalbach registry); m. 2nd Susanne Schwartz in Veckersviller on 3 Apr 1736 (Veckersviller registry), may be bur. 8 Aug 1736 in Veckersviller (Veckersviller registry).
Joseph, bap. 13 Aug 1687 in Saverne, Bas-Rhin, FRA; m. Madeleine Hinsberger of Montbronn on 11 Jan 1718 in Veckersviller. Joseph appears in Veckersviller records as Godfather in the baptism of Joseph Gillet on 10 Aug 1711. His baptism gives Ulrich Laubacher and Ursula Gebhart as parents living in Ottersthal near Saverne.
Marie Catherine, b. abt. 1692 (death record), m. Christophe Metzger 13 Sep 1707 in Veckersviller (Schalbach registry), d. 22 May 1752, bur. 23 May 1752 in Veckersviller (Veckersviller registry)
Jean Adam, d. 11 Sep 1698 aged 2, bur. Veckersviller (Schalbach registry). Earliest record in Veckersviller of this family.

In addition to the above, Jean Laubacher appears as the father in the baptism of Marie Catherine Laubacher 23 Nov 1711 in Veckersviller (Schalbach registry), wife Anne Sedlin.

    Searched for his baptism record:

Submitted a request to the FHL in Salt Lake City, asking for a review of Phalsbourg parish records (unavailable online at the time) in search of a baptism record for Sebastian Laubacher. Due to copy restrictions, a record image could not be sent. But they "did find a Sebastian Laubacher born about 1697 in Phalsbourg, France; Father: Joseph; Mother: Eva Rantrum." They noted that they were "not sure if this is correct."

Once the Phalsbourg parish registry books for 1680-1702 were digitized, the record was searched for and not found.

    Birth:
Possibly born in the first few days of 1697.

Sebastian married Anne Marie Herman 24 Jun 1719, Veckersviller, Moselle, France.
