    Notes:

I found some immigration records on EllisIslandRecords.org. A bunch of Kotaliks arrived on the ship Hansa, which sailed from Hamburg to New York, arriving 6 Nov 1921. One of the Kotaliks, Frantisek, told the Ellis Island people that he was going to his own house at 3251 Fulton Rd. in Cleveland, and that he'd been here from 1911-1921, and had $2000 on him when he arrived. This guy was 31 years old at the time. I assume that Frantisek is your g-grandmother Emma Kotalikova's brother. Another passenger's entry refers to him as Frank (he told the officials he was going to stay at his brother, Frank's, house, at 3251 Fulton...), so I therefore presume that your gg-grandfather's real name was Frantisek rather than Frank. Which helps, because Frantisek is a hell of a lot more rare than Frank, and it will be familiar to any Czech researchers we might be able to enlist in the cause. Let's see, we have these (potential) children of Frank/Frantisek Kotalik of Pisek, Czech.:

    Frantisek/Frank (Jr.) b. 1890 (wf. Vilhemina (b. 1893), s. Vilem (b. 1916))
    Emma b. 1896
    Zdenik b. 1899

I found no record (so far) for Emma. Zdenik was single in 1921. I note that Frantisek told the officials that his brother paid for his passage. It looks as though the family sent him back to Czech. to bring more people over after they had saved up for tickets, which happened a lot back then (probably 1/3 of the people on the Hansa were already residents of the US).

There is a record for a guy, aged 20, called Franz Kotalik who came from Varazov, Bohemia in 1911, back when it was part of the Austrian Empire--you remember that Czechoslovakia was put together in 1918 as a result of WW1. I suspect this is the original immigration and that he married Vilhelmina over here between 1911-1921, then returned to Czech. in 1921, after the situation had stabilized politically, to visit family and get Zdenik to come over. I bet if we looked we'd find that Pisek was called Varazov when it was part of Austria.

There is a record for a Czech from Pisek named Josef Kotalik who was b. 1871 and lived with his wife Maria at 3139 W. 50th. He came over in 1912 and again in 1925. He could have been Frank (Sr.)'s brother but there's no way to know. There's no way to be sure this Frantisek that I found is related, either, but the circumstantial evidence is strong. See if these addresses are at all familiar to anyone.

Frantisek married Wilhelmina Skarupa 02 Oct 1915, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio. Wilhelmina was born 1893, Pisek, Czech Republic; died 13 Nov 1968, Westlake, Cuyahoga, Ohio. [Group Sheet]
