    Notes:

Quotations from the Parish Register of St. Peter Parish, New Kent County, Virginia, about the baptism of Robert and Mary children of Francis are the earliest records of our Hester line. Francis Hester's descendants lived in Virginia in the early 1700's and some remained there, but most migrated southward to Mecklenburg County, Virginia and Granville County, North Carolina, and from those places to other southern states.

Francis probably had other children besides Robert and Mary, but none were listed in available records. Nor is anything further known of Mary. Robert was mentioned in a number of records. He patented land in New Kent County, Virginia, in 1729 (1300 acres) and in Hanover County, Virginia, in 1735 (400 acres).

Francis Hester was first recorded in New Kent County, Virginia in 1686. In 1689, he was recorded in the Parish Baptismal Records of St. Peter Parish, and in 1704, in the Quit Rent roll with 300 acres of land. They were of German origin, left Germany because of religious wars, first settling in England and then to America. Had grants of land in Hanover and Louisa Co unties, VA.
