  	Will Book 1, page 501 In the name of God Amen. I William Hess of Bedford County and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania being in health and perfect sound memory calling to mind that it is appointed of God for all men once to die, do constitute and appoint this as my last will and testament in form and words following. First I will and bequeath my soul to God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian and decent manner at the discretion of my Executor herein after named. My funeral charges and all lawful debts to be paid and then devise and bequeath those my affects which it has pleased God to bless me with my household furniture and all other property shall be sold by public vendue for the highest price it will fetch by the direction of my Executors and then all my money to be divided between my three sons and two daughters Viz. John Hess, Jacob Hess and Abraham Hess Viz. Margaret and Rachel I bequeath unto my three sons John, Jacob and Abraham each the sum of sixty dollars more than the two girls Viz Margaret and Rachel. I also bequeath unto the children my daughter and wife of Conrad Peck, the sum of fifty dollars to be equally divided among them and I also bequeath unto the children of my daughter Elizabeth and wife of John Hart the like sum of fifty dollars to be equally divided among them I also bequeath unto the child of my daughter Mary the sum of fifty dollars. I likewise bequeath unto the children of my daughter Sarah the sum of fifty dollars to be equally divided among them I will. My wearing apparel to my three sons to divide among themselves and I hereby appoint my son Jacob Hess and beloved friend Jacob Hart to Execute this my last will and testament renouncing all former wills and testaments and confirming this and none other. I hereby set my hand and affix my seal in the presents of October 2nd in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventeen.
