    • He was a bookseller, news dealer, and newspaper editor. He was most famous as an abolitionist who took great risk in operating an 'Underground Railroad' station from his home in Springfield, Clark Co, OH. His efforts assisted large numbers of fugitive slaves on their way to freedom in Canada. He died in Indiana, but was buried in Clark County, Ohio. [7]
