Family oral history indicates that husband Richard F Donaldson made his living around that time by stealing cattle from ranchers in New Mexico and taking them to Mexico to sell, and that he returned from one such trip with a Native American woman who bore Marvin H Donaldson and subsequent children.

    It is said that Roxie Ann died from pneumonia.
