  	Chico Record, Tuesday morning, March 18, 1919: "First General Store Keeper at Durham Dies. I.H. Locey, who established the first general mercantile store in Durham, in the '70s, passed away at Woodland Sunday, at the age of almost seventy-five years. His remains were brought here, and interment and services will be held at 1:30 this afternoon in the Durham cemetery, on the Durham-Oroville road. Deceased was born in Carlisle, Ill, in 1844, and came to California in 1874, locating in Durham. He conducted a store there until 1894, when he moved to Colusa Junction. Of recent years he had lived at Woodland. Surviving him are six sons and a daughter, all of whom have moved away from Butte county."

Locey served as Postmaster from 21 July 1878 to 29 July 1891. 1886-87 McKenney Business Directory: Listing of Durham notes it to be "a thriving town on the SP Co's. Oregon Div., 6 miles from Chico. It has post, and telegraph facilities, good hotel accommodations and a population of about 250 ... I.H. Locey, Genl Mrcht, Postmaster and flour mill." 1881 McKenney City & County Directory: "Durham, a station on the California and Oregon Railroad, 18 miles northwest of Oroville ...
