To wife Elizabeth Gardner: during her life the "incum" (sic.) of my part in the mills of Salem, rent income from certain lands, two cows and calves, three swine, "use of household stuff in my house"; to son Samuel Gardner: a house and land (in which Samuel now dwells), with certain land and the aforementioned share of mills after Elizabeth's decease; to son Ebenezer: houses and land at Hartford, Windsor, and Simsbury after his mother's decease, certain other land, an acre of salt marsh "I had of my father"; to daughter Buttolph: £300 of debt "owing me at conetticott, when they are gotten" (that is to say, in addition to the aforementioned lands in Hartford, Windsor, and Simsbury, Connecticutt, George Gardner was also owed the very significant amount of £300, which, when collected, is to be given to this unnamed daughter); to son Buttolph: forgiveness of a £30 debt; to daughter Turner: the house and land "they now live" (presumably this bequest includes a son-in-law unnamed), on condition they only give it to "one or more of her children", £300 of debt owed in "coneticott, as it can be got in"; to daughter Hathorne: £300 of debt in Connecticut as it is collected; in case son Ebenzer "dy before he be marryed" (sic.) his estate to be divided among my other children; to brother Thomas Gardner: £20 "in provisions"; to cousins Mirriam Hascall and Susana Hill, at her marriage: £5 each in "household stuff" to be "layed out" by my sister Grafton; to sons Samuel Gardner and Ebenezer Gardner, executors: any remaining estate to them, two parts to Samuel and one to Ebenezer; to my servant Arrah (likely to have been a Native American slave): £5 after he serves son Samuel five years, "& then his time to be out"; to "my loving frend" Capt. John Allen of Hartford, overseer of my will: £5; to the two daughters of my friend Caleb Stanley of Connecticut, overseer of my will: 50s each; brothers Thomas & Samuel Gardner, overseers of my will in Salem |
