    "Year 1748, twentieth December, hour eleven and
    a half PM, died in the Lord Johannes
    Untereiner, son legitimately of the late Johannes Mathias Untereiner
    and Anne Madeline Schwartz, married, of Veckers-
    viller. Aged around twenty-four years.
    He first had fortification by the Sacraments of penitence and
    extreme unction. Twenty-second of the same month,
    he was buried in the cemetery of Veckersviller, it is
    sworn before me, the pastor who signed this, with Georg Jacob
    Pfeiffer, Jacob Untereiner and Johannes Pfeiffer, who

    between Jean Matthieu Untereiner the first party, son of the late Matthieu Untereiner and of
    Marie Krum, the father and mother resided in Veckersviller, and Anne Magdelaine Schwartz, daughter
    of [Nic]olas Schwartz and of Anne Mari Jost, the other [party], without finding there to be any opposition,
    I received of the two the promise to marry and with the customary ceremonies,
    celebrated the marriage in the church of the same place in the presence of Jacob Schmidt, who signed the original [NOTE: This record is a transcription made about 1713 by the priest who originally officiated the wedding.],
    and of Nicolas Schwartz who swore to it, not knowing how to write."
