  	The Rowley town record does not give a specific date. English forces, including two Massachusetts regiments, laid siege to Port Royal (now Annapolis Royal), Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Canada twice in 1707; the first time in May/June and again in August. Neither siege was successful. A contemporaneous diary gives "Aug. ye 13, being wensday ... Lieutenant Gage killed by a great shot in his tent." (sic.)
